I need to buy a gift for my mom. She does not have many hobbies, she also does not care much about how eco the things she buys are, but I do. I want to buy an eco-friendly gift that she will actually like but I don't have any thoughts right now. Anybody have a suggestion or some ideas of eco gifts you have bought for other people recently?

Mirmar I just recently bought something very practical as a gift… Who Gives A Crap toilet paper - it is sustainable, Bcorp, and 50% profit goes to the important purpose. Well my parents thought it is fun and they liked it. 😁 As well did the same with kitchen cloths 😅 Luffa seeds were very good gift as well because they grew successfully so it is in use and my Mom uses it as gifts for others as well. Sustainable socks from Ūkai is on my list for Dad. And it was a gift for ourselves 😂 On my list is German company for cleaning products Klaeny. And we received very nice organic Linen sheets and towels, was nice as we didn't have any, but people usually have lots at home. So everything quite boring, but super practical. We donated aswell some trees to Pasodinkmedi.lt the certificate is quite cute so it was a great gift for a family with a small girl, at least we thought so.

There is nothing worse than being expected to pretend you love something ugly or useless just because someone made it for you, and then keep it around gathering dust for them to see whenever they visit.

People think that a gift item must be new but I bought my sister a beautiful dress in a second owner shop, the price was not high but it is her style and more sustainability friendly than to buy a new one. I will look in these shops again for gift items in the future.

Most people would never consider buying gifts in a second hand shop, but if it is in good condition and clean it is as good as new, you can pack it beautifully, it's more circular economy friendly, and you get something that is unique and not the same as everyone else is wearing from the mall chain stores right now. 👏

Does she have any hobby that includes making anything? If yes then you can always buy some sustainable materials. Like organic cotton or wool if someone likes to sew or knit, or some sustainable material for any other kind of creative hobby.

I agree, it's one of those things that really does depend on the person you're giving it out to. Personally, I wouldn't mind it and would love some fancier toilet paper with designs. But others might take it the wrong way lol

Of course 🙂 but to defend that toilet paper 😂 the 50% of price goes to the good cause. And it is truly eco-friendly, but well it is not so fancy!

In all cases the best gift is time and experience together. But sometimes physical form is nice as well 🙂 I like practical ones so they don't sit without purpose in the dusts.

The cool ones is donations to some organisations as you said, but again all.depends from the person the gift supposed to be.

I consider the family members the easiest ones. 😁

Julie Brooks-Girskiene I should really take some time to look around these kind of shops more, but I don't have a lot of patience for clothes shopping and I like it when I can just see exactly what there is and if I like it and not have to hunt too deeply.

I do not love the shopping as well, but I like it more in the small second owner shops than the big busy mall stores, they are more quiet and more relaxed.

💚 this! I really don't like plastic trees but I know it is bad to cut trees down just to be decoration for a week or two.

Love that idea. We just have a fake Christmas tree that we've used for the last 4-5 years. It's just a bit easier and helps avoid waste as well because we definitely wouldn't have time to make sure it's planted again.

I still think that experiences as gifts are always good, take someone to do something they never did before or that they love doing. Could be a wine tasting trip, skydiving or just about anything really.
