The Cuban sandwich for me personally. What about you?

I don't eat meat, so a Cuban sandwich is definitely out for me! Something with beetroot, lettuce, some fresh tomatoes and plenty of vegan cheese would be good, but really anything is in the fridge and cupboard that will fit into bread.

A long time ago, about 25 years, when I used to eat meat, there was a Portuguese restaurant that we used to go to sometimes, and they had a sandwich that had about 3 kinds of meat, and cheese and eggs in it and then the whole thing was covered in more cheese and some red tomato kind of sauce. I don't remember what it was called but I do remember that it was a lot. I couldn't eat the whole thing. As a vegetarian now the thought of it is just 'wow, that's a lot of meat' but I remember the sauce was really good.

Vilte I don't remember what it was called but I do remember that it was a lot. That would be a Francesinha! I ate it for the first time in Porto a few years ago and, like you said, it is a lot. But, we decided to experiment and make a vegetarian version, including that sauce which traditionally has bacon fat and beef stock in it, and managed to come up with something that (I think) is pretty great. John You can find the recipe for it here: Meat Free Francesinha This looks amazing, I've never eaten the meat version and that sounds like really way too much meat for any one sandwich, but this version sounds huge but really great. We don't have all of the ingredients right now, but next shopping trip I'm going to give this a go. 🙂

John That would be a Francesinha! Yes, that is the one! I never thought about making a meat free version, but the recipe sounds really good, there are a lot of things in there!

I will use vegan mayo when it is available, but it's probably the only way that I still eat eggs when it is not.

Simple and classic. I substitute out the dairy cheese for a vegan type, but apart from that I agree 100%.

A simple bacon sandwich is always nice. I also love a nice roast beef sandwich but only if it is homemade. That way, you can ensure the beef pieces are quite thick and juciy.

My new favorite thing is tapenade, spinach, beetroot, fresh cheese (vegan or dairy) and tomato.

Forgot to mention the simplest but tastiest sandwich option - a simple grilled cheese sandwich. Plus, it's amazingly easy to just add some random bits and pieces to make it even better.

Especially if you love the taste of cheese but do not eat dairy. I make life hard for myself some of the times. 😃

You know what, I'm going to go for the third option - nothing so that I can actually taste the bacon and enjoy that. But if I had to, I would go for brown sauce.

Many sandwiches have special names, but to me they are all the sandwiches with something. Like a sandwich with avocado, a sandwich with tomatoes or what ever. Some of them are super fancy and in the end is a simple bread with cheese or another basic thing.

Anyway you can create an amazing full of goodies sandwich.

For those who don't know…

Coronation chicken is a really strange dish, apparently created for the Queen's coronation in 1953. It's made of chicken and fruit (dried apricots in the original recipe, often sultanas in modern versions), all mixed up in a curry mayonnaise.

You mostly find it either in very old fashioned restaurants or in petrol station sandwiches.

I am Ashlynn The basic one is just soy milk, oil and salt. From shops it has more ingredients like oil, water, vnegar, sugar, salt, starch, some kind of flavouring, ect.

I just looked at the jars of regular mayo and vegan mayo in the shop, and the only big difference in the ingredients was that the vegan one does not have eggs and has pea protein.
