We all know that the best is to choose packaging free products of any kind, but it is not so easy to do it.

So I am inviting you all to share your ways to avoid unnecessary packaging and how to be smart doing the shopping.

If you can not buy things without packaging then you can look at the least for the most friendly packaging and do not buy things in small packs.

Biodegradable packaging can be aswell one of solutions, but sometimes it takes still quite a long time to decompose or the materials need specific conditions to brake down. Some biodegradable plastic packaging can't be recycled with the regular plastic as in the process it makes interruptions.

Yep, I've read the same thing in a few places recently, and it's something that I never really thought of.

The bad thing is that I expect most other people don't think of it either and just believe that they are doing the right thing by throwing all of the plastic in the recycling bin.

Sometimes I think that on the packaging should be written very clear if it is compostable, environmental friendly ect. It would save a lot of time. Nowadays we kind of need to read ingredients + find out about packaging.

Some things like fruits and vegetables are easy, you just pick the ones that are loose and not prepacked. If you find bulk stores near to you then you can also do it with grains, rice and flour.

Other foods and kind of everything else is not so easy though!

Piri I was joking a bit, I am really positive about zero packaging.

People are messy though some because they do not care and some just because they are not so coordinated.

I was imagining a huge supermarket like Maxima XXX with every product being loose and put into containers by the people shopping and a bit of flour spilt here and a bit of sugar there and some rice and on and on. Someone would have to be cleaning all of the time. 😆

Always take a lot of bags with you.

Not just big canvas shopping bags but small reusable bags to put individual things in, they can even be the plastic ones that you got from the shop the last time, taking them back and putting nuts or fruit in them again is much better than taking another new one each time.
