If you want to be sustainable it doesn't mean you should choose off grid renewable energy, install your solar power or wind power systems. In the long run you could save if you do so, but there are other options.

In Lithuania you can choose your electricity provider and there is the chance to choose 100 % renewable energy. 🔆 🌬️ 🌊

In some point I think it is very good initiative because if most of the people choose green energy it will encourage and eliminate grey energy.

It is still not a perfect system if you live in the apparent building, because you need to agree with your neighbors.

It is good that there are the options, is there much of a price difference between the green and grey energy providers?

In a similar way to @Julie Brooks-Girskiene with paper recycling, I had to stop for a moment and wonder how they separate out which person gets which electricity when it all comes down the same cable. Of course the answer is that the grid just buys more of the power from the renewable companies and not that your individual electrons are from that particular place, but it gave some amusing mental images.

Other wise it would be just massive amounts of infrastructure. But the cool part of it is that you don't need to change all the infrastructure.

It makes it accessable to anyone.

And even if you want to install a solar system you still can connect in the main grid so you don't need to invest into batteries.

As an each provider wants to get more clients they present themselves quite well. It is good that you can find basic info about all providers in the same place. Of course non of them are perfect,.but still it is possible to choose the least evilish one.
