I just saw a news article about a company called IdentiFlight who make a system for protecting endangered birds from wind turbines.
It's all pretty high tech but basically it works by constantly scanning the sky in the area around a wind farm for movement. When it does find something moving it tracks it with super high resolution cameras, uses AI to identify what kind of bird it is, and if it an endangered species then it tracks the path it will fly on and temporarily pauses any turbine in that flight path until the bird has passed.
It's only being used at the moment in about 5 countries and I am not sure how many wind farms, I'm guessing it is really expensive to install, and maybe not all operators are interested in losing revenue to protect a few birds, but it still seems like a pretty smart way of minimizing the damage done by wind farms that a lot of people complain about.
