We have a couple very simple rules:
- always have a shopping bag, you never know when you will need it;
- choose unpacked and don't pack when shopping if it is not needed;
- avoid food waste while cooking and combine a new dish with leftovers;
- solid and natural organic body care and cosmetics;
- we always give priority to organic products;
- we don't use single use items;
- we don't buy things because they are cheap, just the ones we need and will last.
These are basics. Of course we apply other sustainable living rules which compliment zero waste talking about energy, CO2 emissions some are:
- walk or cycle instead of driving short distance or even using public transport.
- avoid online shopping or make bigger purchases (like last time we ordered books and chosen one slow delivery instead of a couple separate deliveries as one book had longer delivery time);
- practising general energy saving;
- as now we are renting accomodation it is powered by solar panels (electricity and water heating)
Of course we could do more and we are trying little by little to improve. ππΏπ
