Do you think your country is doing enough to fight climate change?

My question is are you happy with the response of your country to climate change?

Do you think that the government, industry and any other organisations I guess, are doing enough, or should they be doing something better?

I know that most people in here are from one of the Batlic states, so I'm expecting a lot of thoughts on them, but there are also a few of us in the US at the moment and I noticed people from Croatia and Germany I think as well!

Maybe they are quite high demands, but these are the things that I would like to see improved:

🌿 public transportation infrastructure should rely 100% on green energy, even go into hydrogen power.
🌿 waste sorting and management equal in all areas urban and rural. People in the villages need textile containers and all others to make the recycling process easier without driving many kilometres to do it.
🌿 containers for food-biomass waste network as well as bioplastic separation. So it can be well composted and used in the agriculture.
🌿 ensure that all agriculture in Lithuania would be Sustainable and ecological, it is a small country and the demand for that is growing so it makes sense on all the levels.
🌿 shops should go more into zero packaging especially fruits and vegetables.
🌿 sustainable and LEED certification manufactures should be build so we know how environment friendly the processes are.
🌿 All zero waste products should be marked where they were made, because many are made with grey energy, even 'homemade' products should inform.
🌿 all electronics should be marked how recyclable and fixable they are ( I believe in France they have it).
🌿 Would be great to have marks to which recycling container should item go (Denmark example)
🌿 as well now to get certificate for eco- friendly products is quite expensive and it should be easier as it is better for environment and people.
🌿 Take away food packaging system in cities - reusable. Something like CupCup for coffee cups.
🌿 the money that are going to military would go to the education and environment protection, improvement projects... Well at least the bigger part of it. Because anyway if someone will 'give' a nuclear gift tanks and helicopters won't help.

These are my first thoughts, might be more later 😁🌍🌿

Definitely the parts about packaging and no-waste shopping could be so easy to make happen, and I had also an idea that food products in shops should have a label that rates their green footprint, how much energy is used to make them and things like that.

I think that we - Lithuania, are in the right direction but it is hard to say if the country is doing enough. Each of the parts has to make the effort, government, etc. and each normal person as well.

That is so true it is a common effort and people is the ones who makes things happen. If they have all tools it doesn't mean they will use it. But we know that good systems work well in Lithuania. And comparing with many other countries I think we are doing quite well.

When last time we spent longer time in Lithuania I called so many times asking to pick up paper and plastic containers because they were full it took them 2 months to do so in the city would never happen like this. And last week my parents hunted the textile spot. Well it is not so big deal, but many people might choose not to care anymore.

I mean in the Conner shop you can find vegan bars and organic coconut oil, but can't sort the waste properly. 😁

I live in France and I think we are doing good compared to a lot of countries.

People think we are old fashion in some things and it is true but with green issues we are ahead with examples as the short fight ban, stopping shops from throwing food to the trash, the repairable index.

But we have the conservative old fashion politicians and people too, like with the story about the no meat school meals, this is a step too much forward for some of France.

We could do better still and we have to but it feels that the government does take it all seriously.

I live in the United States, so the clear answer is no. The United States is hardly doing anything to fight climate change. Unfortunately, because of the corporate rule of the U.S. government, that is unlikely to change anytime soon. There have been some small steps in the right direction in recent months, but I doubt it will go much further.

While traveling we saw some really nice projects in States 😊 it looks bad in general, but hopefully the country will get better soon!

holisticstorm We have a whole presidential term of catchup to do with the most of the developed world, but we can only hope that is going to change in the near future.

As far as I am aware, the UK is doing some things to fight climate change but as with most countries, it's clearly just not enough. I think most governments like to talk about it but just like to push their targets all the way into the future, which in most cases is too late.
