Vilte I totally mis-read the title of this discussion as 'The war on cheese' and I was expecting to find something about how a vegan militia is attacking dairies or something. 😆
I'm sad now, that would have been a much better discussion!

Julie Brooks-Girskiene You might be right, but they say that it is food safe and non-toxic. You are not supposed to eat it but apparently you can and it will not do you any harm at all,
When I was a kid there was a boy at school who used to eat the whole thing with the wax still on the cheese. He was kind of strange and liked being strange, so I think he just did it for the attention.
I wonder if he knew that you're meant to remove the red wax first? I've read a lot of things about people accidentally eating packaging thinking its part of the product so it doesn't surprise me that much lol
Ash
Surely you would realise after the first time. I mean it didn't look overly tasty.
Ash wonder if he knew that you're meant to remove the red wax first?
He knew, he was just strange. I think it was attention seeking.
John
Depends on the person I guess. Some people just assume that's meant to be the taste lol. I remember reading about someone that was allergic to mangos (or some other fruit) and thought her allergic reactions were normal. She described them as being "spicy" 😁
I ate it once, it does not taste of anything very much.
Mushroom-King I ate it once, it does not taste of anything very much.
Why? I never ate this cheese before but I still think I would know that it is not good to eat wax.
The key word I am taking away from this is 'once'. It's not something you wanted to repeat.
Why???
Do you mean you just tasted it to see what it was like, or you ate the whole thing?
Arvīds Why? I never ate this cheese before but I still think I would know that it is not good to eat wax.
But not ever person can be as smart as you Arvids
Mirmar But not ever person can be as smart as you Arvids
Yes, I know that is true.
It would be interesting to see if one day someone could come up with a solution that has the benefits of the wax but is also edible.

True, I have not ever tried it again 🙂
Arvīds and such modesty as well. 😉

I know, that is just the way I am.
Beeswax is biodegradable by the way.
Mirmar Beeswax is biodegradable by the way.
I think it is quite a lot softer than the wax they use though, so maybe that is why they wouldn't use it for the cheese.
Julie Brooks-Girskiene Yes, you are probably right!
